Dear Fellow Friends of Manchac Greenway (FMG):

Our goals are to keep the Manchac Greenway clean, enhance recreational opportunities, (such as biking, running, fishing, and boating), reducing invasive vegetation, and boosting the economic impact of the Greenway.

Since our inception the FMG has been working to improve the Greenway and our accomplishments include: developed a website presence (www.manchacgreenway.org)that provides information, photos of the Greenway, points of interest maps, and a convenient way to donate.  The FMG has worked with the Louisiana Department of Transportation (DOT)to place official Manchac Greenway and bike path signs along the Greenway, organized a joint parish Manchac Greenway Commission, advocated for repair of boat launches at Ruddock and North Pass, organized expansion of parking at Shell Bank Bayou,  participated in clean up events on the greenway organized by St. John and Tangipahoa Parishes, and consulted with Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU)in the development of Road Map to Master Plan for the Manchac Greenway and Ring Around the Lake publications.  Members and associates have adopted miles on the Greenway to assist in keeping the greenway clean.

The FMG plans to remain involved in cleanup activities, participate in Ring Around the Lake efforts, and work with the Manchac Greenway Commission and the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) to improve the recreational activities on the Greenway, including events directly presented by the FMG.  FMG plans to advocate for projects that would reduce coastal erosion land loss to the Isthmus of Manchac and work to increase support and participation from Tangipahoa and St. John the Baptist Tourism as well as civic organizations, businesses and individuals.

In order to accomplish goals mentioned above, the Friends of Manchac Greenway is seeking to increase membership from the citizens of Tangipahoa and St. John Parishes as well as all regions of the state, as the Greenway is a State and National treasure.  To join our organization simply choose your membership level, complete the application and post your membership fee here.
