The genesis of the Friends of the Manchac Greenway came from Frank Neelis’ idea to find a source of funding for an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Approved fishing pier somewhere in the Manchac area. During research for this project a previously completed report on a Manchac Parkway was revealed and revived. The project started to “sprout arms and legs” and take on a life of its own to eventually got to where we are now. In spite of progress made on the Greenway, the ADA fishing pier is still just a good idea and a number on the map.
