Once the Manchac Greenway is completed into Ponchatoula, an official marathon of 26.2188 miles can be run between Kiwanis Park, 201 Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, LA and the vicinity of the I-10 overpass in Laplace on US 51 / Manchac Greenway.

And what the heck is a Kiwanis anyway? Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 by businessmen in Detroit who originally called themselves the “Supreme Lodge Benevolent Order of Brothers” before quickly changing the name to “Kiwanis” after’s an American Indian expression “nunc kee-wanis,” for “we trade.” The organization then shifted their emphasis from fostering business contacts to being dedicated to helping children.
